Etsy Digital Download File Size Limit
Etsy instant-download listings can include up to 5 digital files, with a maximum size of 20 MB per file. Plan ZIPs, ratios and printable bundles around the limit.
The current Etsy limit
Etsy Help states that an instant-download listing can contain up to five digital files and each file can be up to 20 MB. This limit applies per uploaded file, not as one shared 100 MB bucket.
What this means for wall-art bundles
Large multi-ratio JPG bundles can exceed the per-file limit quickly. Organize files intentionally, compress ZIPs where appropriate, and avoid duplicating unnecessary exports.
Check before uploading
Verify dimensions, ratio, file format, file size and buyer-facing file names before the listing goes live. Etsy notes that uploaded file names are the names buyers see.
Example delivery plan for a multi-ratio wall-art set
File-size limits affect packaging, not just compression. Instead of forcing every size into one oversized file, organize the buyer download around clear ratio families and only include the masters needed for those families.
| Bundle part | Example contents | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 2:3 | 4×6 through 24×36 master | One ratio family |
| 4:5 | 8×10 through 16×20 master | Avoid unnecessary duplicates |
| Instructions | Size guide + printing notes | Reduces buyer confusion |
Reduce size without damaging the product
- Remove duplicate exports before increasing JPG compression.
- Use JPG for photographic/painterly art when transparency is not needed.
- Use PNG only when its lossless/transparency benefits are actually required.
- Keep filenames human-readable so buyers know which file to print.
Before uploading
Open every delivered file, verify its pixel dimensions, and confirm that the largest advertised print size still has the effective PPI you intend.
